A-Z party by Pre-Schoolers

posted Apr 28, 2018, 5:45 PM by Samia Altaf

Our Pre-Schoolers finished their alphabets and Mrs. Hydari along with her team decided to invite parents for A-Z party yesterday. Our little learners and pre-schoolers sang rhymes beautifully , played musical chairs and did some crafts.

We all are so proud of these young learners who are very meaningfully engaged in the school by Mrs. Hydari and her TA's. Parents were amazed to notice marked devlopment in their children cognitive and social skills.

May our students always grow and shine in their life!

Math Bowl contest

posted Apr 16, 2018, 7:29 PM by Samia Altaf

The Math Bowl was hosted by Islamic Center of Naperville. There were participants from eight leading Islamic schools in North America. It was very well conducted by CPSA and GEA schools.

The Math Bowl consisted of math hands-on activities such as:

Pizza Fractions, Building Addition Pyramids, building the tallest standing structure, sum of pairs, Number sense problems, Geo-boards and Solving word problems.

There were 8 activities for each grade. Students were in multi-school groups working cooperatively to complete all the time-bound activities. Alhumdulillah, our students ( 3rd-5th Grade) showed good teamwork and great behavior through the rotations.

I would like to thank all the teachers and parents who had partnered with us for this competition. My special thanks to Mrs. Masroor who was the coordinator for this competition. I would also like to extend my deepest regards to Ms. Maria mother of Khadija Mahad who chaperoned today for this event.

Congratulations to all the Math Bowl participants for exemplary achievement!

FIELD TRIP TO FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN

posted Jan 31, 2018, 5:08 PM by Samia Altaf

The students( Grade 3- Grade 6th) of Al-Huda Academy partici[pated in a very educational field trip organized by our PTA  on January 31st. The students saw a documentary on the different countries where millions of children are starving out of hunger. They had a unique hands-on experience of community service at such young age and the deep satisfaction one drives working for the noble cause of helping the less fortunate people.FMSC distributes food in predominantly Muslim countries. This field trip has strengthened the philosophy of volunteering one's time and it has stimulated the students for selfless social service that is so close to our religious philosophy and teachings.

We had organized Science fair in the school last week. Our upper grades(4th-6th) had made their individual science projects. We had invited three professionals Nadeem Kureshi, Mark Zollner and Dr. Peter who were nice enough to take out time from their busy office routine to judge the projects. All the judges were extremely happy with the performance of our bright and energetic students.

Fred George Peters MD, FACS (Fellow American College of Surgeons)

Educated at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine (Alumnus)

Mark Zollner has been with Motorola Solutions for more than 20 years. Mark is a Systems Architect working on determining performance and capacity specifications for Land Mobile Radio Networks. Mark is also a digital six sigma Master Black Belt.

Nadeem Kureishy has been with Motorola Solutions for 20 years. Nadeem is a System Architect specializing in data solutions for Land Mobile Radio Networks. Nadeem is also a member of Motorola's Scientific Advisory Board Associates (SABA). Currently, less than 3% of the Engineers at Motorola Solutions are part of SABA.

We all are grateful to all the three judges who managed their valuable office time beating the traffic in the morning hours to judge the science projects made by our(4thGrade-6thGrade) students. We had the professionals from medicine and computer science to judge this educational activity.

Our first judge was Fred George Peters MD, FACS (Fellow American College of Surgeons)

Board Certified Gastroenterologist

Our other two judges Nadeem Kureshi and Mark Zollner were from Motorola Solutions. Mark is a Systems Architect and associated with Motorola for the last twenty years. The students of Al-Huda Academy ( KG and up) presented a wonderful seerah program on Friday, December 15th in the school gym. Parents were invited and they were thrilled to see the participation of their children to pay homage to our beloved prophet ( P.B.U.H). Students sang different Nasheeds and presented skits also.

The program was a very good demonstration of the perfect teamwork.

Respected Al-Huda families,

Assalam-o-Alaikum,

We are pleased to share with you that our 2nd Grade and up students went to sears center Arena to watch the basketball game played between Windy City Bulls and red claws. Our students got thrilled with this rare experience as twenty other schools were also present there.

The students got extremely exhilarated when Al-Huda Academy's name rose on the scoreboard.
May our students rise and shine in all their ventures and bring laurels to their school!

The students had a very learning cum fun packed exposure to this field trip. They received the goggles and a workbook full of educational activities occurring throughout the entire game. Our 4th graders also took the autographs from the players at the end of the game.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Altaf
