Math and Science Teacher for Upper Elementary and Middle Grades

 

Qualifications and Required Skills:

 

·         Holds a Master’s degree majoring in Maths and science from the US.

  • Holds teachers license and appropriate endorsement(s) and/or meets Illinois Teaching Certificate to meet the accreditation requirements for teaching the middle-grade level.
  • Must possess strong ability to build relationships with colleagues and parent body to develop a working team.
  • To be familiar with the Bloom’s taxonomy and plan her lessons to challenge her students to close the achievement gaps.

·         Ability to relate to the students, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and initiate different clubs and committees.

·         Must have some knowledge and experience to launch STEM in the school.

·         References will be provided by the job seeker which can be verified by the employer.

  • Background check and fingerprinting must be done by the new staff member upon acceptance of a position at Al-Huda Academy. A copy of the results must be provided to the school administration before starting a position. This information must be kept current.
  •  Must be able to incorporate technology into teaching, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Standard US English.

 

Experience

·         Successful completion of student teaching assignment.

·         Previous teaching experience in Math and Science with a track record of producing outstanding results in standardized testing preferably in public or private schools of US.

Hiring:

Full time (8:00-4:00) Elementary Classroom teacher position available starting soon.

The teacher must be certified & licensed with few years of teaching experience in the US.  Teachers must have the ability to work as a member of a team, a willingness to learn, with lots of patience and love for children. Teachers must possess strong interpersonal skills, be flexible and open to new ideas, and skilled at working with a diverse group of children and parents.

Small group instruction and differentiated instruction required to meet CCSS. The teacher should plan lessons to challenge her students at individual levels. Must be fully familiar with Bloom's taxonomy and able to inculcate high order thinking skills. The teacher should be able to organize standardized tests and yield optimum results.

Custodial Worker

The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established school policies and standards. A custodial worker must maintain the assigned building in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  •     Perform regular custodial duties in assigned areas of building.
  •     Accept instructions from head administrators verbally or in writing.
  •     Provide services as necessary to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities.
  •     Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment and be responsible for restocking.
  •     Repair plumbing, electrical and safety system on the property whenever needed.
  •     Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment, furniture, etc. in the building.
  •     Should possess the commercial driving license with the clean record.
  •     Project a positive image for the school, whenever the guests or visitors are in the building.
  •     Work closely with the administrators and teachers for scheduled evening activities and unscheduled events as needed.
  •     Shovel snow and salts the sidewalks as needed. Note that snow should be removed as it falls rather than after during the school hours.
  •     Maintain building and grounds security by opening/closing the building each school day and during special events as directed.
  •     Work on call as needed at any time for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, overtime, or special needs falling outside of normal working hours.
  •     Identify and schedule work to be performed during summer, winter, and spring break.
  •     The custodian is liable to show willingness for background check and job physical.
  •     Responsible for the general cleanliness of the facility on daily basis when the school is in session.
  •     The job seeker will provide references to be verified by the employer.

Physical requirements

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including cleaning supplies, pails, and bags/boxes. Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 80 pounds, including bags of salt and furniture. The custodian will sometimes push or pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines, etc.
The employee must be fluent in English and possess strong interpersonal skills.

  • Arabic teachers must be fluent in Arabic and English or Native speakers of Arabic preferably with teaching experience.
  • Quran teachers are preferably certified in Tajweed.

Teacher Assistants

Qualifications, Experience and Required Skills:
  • Teacher Assistants at Al-Huda are responsible for assisting the teacher, by working collaboratively in a teaching and learning environment that harmoniously reflects Islamic practices, to increase student interactions and academic learning.
  • In the physical presence of the teacher, the lead teacher will deliver the instructional components, but in the absence of the teacher, a teacher assistant may be a substitute with administrative approval.
  • Ability to build a strong rapport with the lead teacher.
  • Associate degree or High school diploma GED.
  • Prior experience of working in a public or private school in US.
  • Must be computer literate, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors and outdoors. Must be flexible in low levels postures to allow physical and visual contact with students, see and hear well enough to keep children safe.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English with ease.
